SUMMER PROGRAM

Report on the Summer Program (12th – 14th July 2017)

For last two years Ability Bhutan Society has been helping children to attend summer program where they not only have the best week of the summer, but also develop skills and friendships that will last them a life time. Ability Bhutan society took this opportunity and organized this program to create platform for children, parents and staff to interact and build rapport. The summer program provides opportunity to children to get engaged with its environment and experiences new things. Children need nature for a healthy development whereby learning becomes playful and enjoyable. The summer program aimed at developing a variety of skills (e.g communication skills, social skills, gross motor skills, building strong friendship among children and parents etc). The outdoor experiences enrich kid’s perception of the world and support healthy development.

Day 1 (12th July 2017)

Many children living with disabilities see the world with their fingertips. They learn best through feeling and doing activities.  His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa visited ABS Center to meet with children and their families. His Eminence shared insightful wisdom and provided moral support to the children and families. The entire ABS family was moved by His Eminence’s message and presence. There was also a trip to Buddha point where all the children explored the Buddha temple and got blessing.

Day 2 (13th July 2017)

Second day was outdoor play activities at Druk School playground. Play is important to healthy development of brain; improve their fine and gross motor skills. In the afternoon there was a picnic at Dochula. Children and parents had great time exploring the pristine environment.

Day 3 (14th July 2017)

The most exciting and loved program by children and parents ended with pilgrimage to Kyichu Lhakhang and Dungtse Lhakhang at Paro. The summer program provides avenues for children to get engaged with its environment and experience new things. Children need platform for a healthy development whereby learning becomes playful and enjoyable.
